| Preview room. |
Week 12 arrived and we were to give our group presentations for the preview of our animations in their current form where we would then receive feedback from Experts and look at other groups work. Annabeth our tutor, informed us that these would be recorded on camera.
I was feeling a little nervous at the time, since we needed to be early to bring our work together and to rehearse what we would say but some of us were running late. Thankfully we were then assembled and looked at the powerpoint that Stephen had assembled for the preview. I felt this piece was very good and I provided the preview animation in its current state with the facts and the tracking footage. I was feeling rather nervous when we rehearsed as I wanted to make sure I was saying the correct thing about our work. Stephen provided his feedback saying that I was trying to say things in one breath which was one of my bad habits in honesty.
With Kieran I could see he was having difficulty figuring out what to say. We tried to help him along, by suggesting saying key things about his storyboards and keep it short and simple.
The time came for our preview and our group went first. I was very nervous, we were presenting our work to an audience and to Joe from our Animation 103 lessons. Joes feedback we knew would be a little in depth and helpful but at the same time it was nerve-racking and I'm sure my colleagues felt the same way. We presented our work keeping it short and simple and showed our inspirations apart from a slight mishap with the internet connections to Youtube.
We showed our work and received feedback from our peers. Joe seemed to observe that there was no story behind our work but what he didn't know was it was the idea to not have a story behind it just a bee flying home to its hive. Annabeth suggested that we needed to take a better look at the time it takes for the facts to be on screen. This was confusing as I thought I had addressed that issue yesterday. Overall people were impressed by our work and our animation.

| Global bird presentation. |
We then watched other groups presentations. One group that took my interest was the Global bird presentation given by Munty, Alisha and Elena. What interested me about their work was how they used After effects to create the backgrounds for their bird to fly through such as a panning and Zig Zag effect. Another area of interest was their design process.
Another project that took my eye was the group project done by Kira and Holly who approached a Manchester charity regarding the use of paper straws instead of plastic. What I liked about it was the use of motion graphic animation much like in the Transpennine brief. When I saw their preview work I liked the use of cell shading. But had some concerns regarding the preview and wondered if they planned to use the fourth wall element in their opening scene. They said they would which I thought was a good element to add. Their presentation was very detailed and informative in my opinion.
Some presentations had a few issues like our group such as the presentation on brain diseases which was given by Declans group one of which was the lack of a preview but that was only due to an issue with the link. I think while Adam, Paiges and Ollie's group was informative they could've also added some ideas of marketing but I did like Paiges artwork style and the way they presented their research and references.
The Gay agenda seemed very in depth with their work such as their use of equipment in University grounds and their different characters to represent themselves and their sexes. I did like their use of their flags in their characters.
Looking back on the presentations I believe we could've improved on our presentations and explained some key details such as the gardens reflecting their owners or our alternate ideas. In hindsight if we had more time to prepare and rehearse things may've performed a little differently, however we did revive useful feedback and Annbeth informed us we would be looking more into our presentations for our work next semester.
In terms of our group we discussed what we needed to do over the Christmas break to meet our deadline. Stephen charged me with finishing the production bible and doing the team report. While Keiran had to finish and add concept art for the bird, humans and dog. Stephen would finalise and render the textures for our environments then hand them to me to apply the tracking data.
I did have some concerns regarding the team report and felt perhaps Stephen should do it given he is our team leader and would have a clear idea of what to report on than I would.
In conclusion our presentation went rather satisfactory but we will need to work on improvements for next time. Hopefully what we learn next semester will help with that. In future we should arrange to meet ahead of time in the presentation to better rehearse and practice what we need to say so we can present more clearly.
