Animation Context: Evaluation:

Looking back over the course of Animation Context, I would say its been my second toughest subject in animation, but I haver rather enjoyed some aspects of the subject. When I first came to the course and subject I realised from the name it would be similar to that of Contextual studies in college, meaning we would be looking at backgrounds and history of certain things. I was nervous at first and found it hard to grasp certain elements, such as the Gibbs reflective cycle we would be using in our annotations.

This method of annotations I felt was hard to adapt to but I soon eased into it gradually and its been rather useful in my own annotation work. I was in the first few weeks rather rusty in research and was rather nervous at approaching academic research as it was higher than what I learned in Trafford College. There were times I was doubting my own ability to handle academic writing in essays and presentations, I couldn't understand most of what was being said. However, I knew to ask the right questions about the task given and got more details on what to do for the assignments. I did rather enjoy the presentations of the module and getting to design the 360 poster for our chosen subject in Animation as it did grant the chance for doing art in the work given to us.

When we were learning the Harvard Referencing I did find this rather confusing as it was very different to the site referencing that I was used to. It was rather hard to see which reference belonged to which particular subject or research source. I was able to understand some of the basics and used it more as I went along. The essay itself I found at times to be rather daunting and challenging to write as there was so much to go into it, and I was so desperate to make a good impression on my first year at university. I kept persisting never giving up even when module agendas were starting to conflict with each other and the deadline was looming ever closer I never lost sight of my overall goal.

If I could do this module over again I would possibly do more work on my writing and drafts to better refine and correct any errors or use of quotes in my subject that I was studying. Whilst academic  writing and research has been challenging and stressful it has shown me how Animation is more than just drawing and filming its about research and writing. This has also provided me with the chance to find out more about my desired area of expertise in Animation and how it was essentially the vital area of animation because without concept artists the film wouldn't be put into production or would it give the directors and film crew a feel of what it would look like.

In conclusion, I have enjoyed the journey I have taken on this module and I shall used what I've learned about Harvard referencing in future modules on the course and for next year.
