In week 4's session of Creative collaboration we were presenting our presentations of our decided projects to the group. Stephan had worked on putting together our presentation whilst myself and Kieran worked on art ideas and storyboard ideas. I was interested in what other groups were approaching for their projects. We each presented our PowerPoint presentations and I was intrigued by how some groups did their artwork and character designs, such as Paige learning animate with a character puppet and Beth's group showing their sexualities through the colours of their characters as their project seemed focused on the theme of LGTB representations in the community.
After our presentations our group discussed our scheduling for the project and Stephan introduced us to a site called Trello which was a scheduling site and we could create our own accounts and access the project schedule. I feel that there was some confusion in the project theme as Kieran's script and storyboards seemed to focus on the theme of bee extinction and on beekeepers being the bad guys, when in fact our project focused on the importance of bees and how it was a roller coaster theme.
Holly one of the animation group students, suggested we looked at the Avatar ride at Disney world as she noted it was an experience ride and the camera movements in the ride could help us seek inspiration than our current source which was the riding Toothless scene in DreamWorks How to Train your Dragon. Upon looking at the footage I felt this could be of use to us and looked a lot like what we wanted to achieve for a final outcome.
We moved to scheduling our assignments for next week which were finalised concepts, logo design for the project and a better script for the animation. I felt we communicated better as a team and could understand my assignments for the weekend and over next week. One of our focusses was on getting reference material for the park and environment settings for the animation so that we could then focus on elements like the style frames and background design.
In conclusion I think this lesson has helped us see what it is we would need to do for next week and get a good idea of our scheduling for the project before the preview deadline being December 14th and the overall hand in date in January 2019. I believe that we were making progress in working as a team and in communication between us and our opinions. I feel we could've looked at discussing the locations and camera angles more in the animatic/ animation but we will cross that bridge when we come to it.
In future I feel we should try and make sure each team member knows what our final decided theme of the animation is before we start rouging up ideas for the storyboards and animatic.
