Having completed my essay, I set to work on doing the final element of my submission work the showreel. Learning from last weeks session, I limited the work area in Premier Pro to one minute as that was the required length. I then created some title slates in Photoshop and having remembered from the examples shown to us I included some of my contact and web links to my blogs on Tumblr and Blogger.

This was remembering what Joe mentioned in Animation 101 that a good pendulum piece would be a test of an animator, so I felt I should follow that advice and include it in the show reel. The concept art side of the show reel would consist of work I had done in Storytelling script to screen and my own work on the Lone Watcher. The storytelling was consistent of the style frame cover of The Dancer & The Show Maker, and the concept artwork of the shoe shop. The last was a colourways piece of my Lone Watcher character, to show what I'd learned about concept art in the mini briefs.
I had to alter or scale down the pieces I introduced and made sure they stayed within the one minute time frame. This meant cutting out some scenes from the multiplane piece which wasn't a bad thing as it was at the moment the scene reached the base. I felt the music needed to be something that spoke out my passion and work. Fortunately I had some music left over from the video essay that I downloaded from the YouTube Audio Library for possible use in the other modules. One music track called Requiem in Cello seemed to fit the showreel very well. I was tempted to add one of my favorite songs to the reel but I pushed the thought aside as I was doing this by the book.
Looking back on the end result I would think that its communicated my chosen areas of animation very well, and it shows what areas of animation I'm looking forward to next year on the course. I would've done somethings differently if I had the chance to do this again and that would be to include more concept art and have a balance of the subjects rather than have ,more of one than the other.
In conclusion I am rather proud of my show reel and feel it will make good marks on my Intro to making of Module. In future I shall list down some of my favorite activities on the course before hand so that I'll be better prepared when its time to make another reel if we are required to next year.
