Description:
Over this week and next week in Animation 101 we would be looking over our stopmotion, Maya and 2D activities to see if they were complete and what we had to submit for our work on the submission date of 12th January 2018. Over the session Johnny showed us how we would be submitting our work on a CD rather than though a USB but for elements like our blogs or vimeo accounts we would be providing the URL code for tutors and external examiners to look at. In terms of the bonus activities such as the armature work it would not be submitted but could be discussed in the blogs. For those of us who had a vimeo account they would be submitted as a word account showing the individual videos of our submitted videos but making sure they had a form of identification such as our student numbers in the title.
I didn’t have a Vimeo account as I didn’t use video sites before just the video through blogs but Joe assured me that this was a tool that would help us in terms of organising our work but if I wanted to I could use my blog just make a tab focus and identification of my submission videos. Our submission would include two word documents showing our research and our URL site referencing to lead us to the blogs along with the barsheets of our animation exercises and Maya files so the examiners could go in and take a closer look. The bottom line of our work was to make sure we were on track with our animations and make sure to submit them on time and not late as it would be bad for our grades.
Feelings:
As Johnny and Joe talked about the importance of making sure our activities were completed on time I was getting anxious and uneasy as I still had some of the ball exercises to perfect and finalise before I could submit anything. I was feeling insecure as I hadn’t done any maya last night as I was focused on meeting the deadline for my creative play group animation assignment and felt like I was conflicting agendas again. I didn’t have a vimeo account and was worried that if this was a requirement of the brief I would miss out an element and not get the desired grades that I want. Concern soon faded away as I talked to Joe about this matter and he told me that Adam was at times having issues with vimeo and switched to Youtube and that the account was a tool to help us but we could still do it through our blogs provided we had a form of identification and date on the exercises in our final submissions.
I was feeling more assured at this time and that come the day of submitting our work I would need to make sure I was at the university at the appointed time to avoid getting a grade penalty.
Evaluation:
If I could look back on this session I would think that it was important to stay on task with our assignments and make sure that our selected work was at its best standards to get the best possible outcomes. I was at times at doubt but I realised that if I was committed to my work I could get my animations refined and completed on time for the start of the year and if I had to do this over the Christmas break then that’s what I would have to do.
Analysis:
I could make sense of the sheets that needed to be signed and completed for our work as in College we had to do something similar including some feedback on the teaching quality of the lectures and the overall module. However one thing that I wasn’t expected to learn was that there was a tool that we could use to convert our blogs to PDF files called blog booker and this made me think that a dummy run on one of my blogs would be needed to test its effectiveness. One thing that did make sense was to make sure that we didn’t use an online grade calculator for our grades throughout the year as they are never accurate and some things like this never are.
Conclusion:
In conclusion I would think that knowing this information now is a good motivator to get on with our work and make sure that everything is up to date and ready for submitting. This was also a good chance to see how we would be submitting our work so that we wouldn’t be panicking at how to submit our animation work and a reminder not to do this at the last minute. There was a link on black board to this structure to help us and that there was the possibility of doing the sheets beforehand even when we haven’t done our work so I may consider this as a later factor in the year.
Action plan:
Looking back at the events of today I would have possibly asked further questions into the matter of the vimeo account or tried to set one up with supervision to make sure I wasn’t doing anything wrong. However in future I will ask the necessary questions in the future to get more detail on what we were being asked to do, so that I wouldn’t get stuck or panic.
