In the wake of yesterdays meeting with the group I began doing some editing and rendering of the bee live animation, and the making of video. Stephen had recently finalised all the footage for the animation. I began placing them together into a preview render animation. I realised showing this to the group would give me feedback on piecing it together and what else to place into it.
I assembled the different footage into Premier Pro and I remembered Stephen mentioning having the opening at 5 seconds then have the title fade away. To make the time hold I used the opening JPEG image shot to stall the opening sequence to 5 seconds. I felt confident that this would work. Remembering the preview footage we did for the team report, I moved the time slider over the clips and using the blade tool cut out any scenes we didn't need and replaced them with footage like the
football pitch and pond crossing.
Kieran I knew would be working with the renders too and adding his 2D assets, which I would later add. Once I finished the first render I sent it to the drive for the group to look at.
Later I received feedback regarding the intro time and have the title sequence in the sky, and one other element in colour correcting the shadows in the render. Stephen did suggest he re renders the entire scene, however I realised we now didn't have the time to re render the park flythrough given how long it took to do.
To avoid this I looked at the opening footage and first part of the fly through. I began with using Premier to alter the footage and found using
the gamma correction tool to be of help adjusting the shadows brightness in the shot. However this was on the JPEG shot, and I discovered that the gamma mask followed the playing of the footage. This was a concern so I reverted to one option edit the frames of the start of the followthrough footage in Photoshop.
I was concerned as it would take up time given the number of frames we had and the deadline was tight. Nevertheless using the magic wand tool and the gaussian blur filter I could alter the shadows. however the wand selected part of the tree trunks and bench legs which blurred them too. I hoped this wouldn't be a problem at least to Stephens point of view.
The scenes were saved directly as they would need to be imported as an image sequence when applying the tracking data to the new footage. Which I did much later.
This gave me time to do some work on doing the making of video, specifically some of the transition effects for the different areas of our project. In the meeting Stephen suggested using the bee animation to move the title slate across the street.
I applied the bee image sequence from my tracking footage. I wanted to have it going from the right hand side of the screen. However the bee I had was going to the right. I tried altering the direction in After effects however unlike Animate I couldn't alter the alpha channels and make sure the stage didn't appear. So I used what I had to do some work on the transitions. I keyframed the movements of the bee, background and text to follow each other.
Looking back on todays work I believe I was making progress on my animation editing and the making of video. I believe that the feedback on my work from my group helped me to refine and alter the video so it would be ready for submission. In hindsight I should've looked at a different avenue for altering the footage shadows besides Photoshop and looked at some of the presets or masks.
However I believe I've done a good job on doing the making of vid and hope to have my production bible and blogs ready for submission.
In conclusion I have done good work today and have made progress in meeting my submission deadline for this week.
In future I shall look into finding other methods in Premier pro for colour correction in footage or shadowing.
