Making of Integrated Practice: Final Week: 7/1/19: Team meeting and progress.

The final week for our hand in had come and so our group called a meeting to discuss what's been happening and how far we are in terms of progress. Stephen had recently rendered the 3D back gardens environment so I could start tracking. I had made progress on the production bible and needed to do the team report and finalising the making of video. Kieran had been doing some 2D animation work for the project as regards the dog and a footballer. Which did explain the render Stephen did without the 3D footballer.

However it seemed clear that Kieran hadn't done much work for the project, despite the Christmas break. Whilst I understand we need a break we also need to delegate time afterwards for our work to be handed in this week. I was having some concerns about the hand in and whether we'd do it on time.He said he would be able to get his 2D work done for Thursday and I deep down hoped he would because while I don't have doubts in my team mates we would need to crack on with our work.

I took the time to go over the tracking footage of the gardens. Stephen had warned me that he forgot to edit out the tracking dot. However This wasn't an issue as the tracking data would follow the dot. However, all wasn't as it seemed when I applied the new footage the data didn't match with the dot. I was very worried as this meant I would need to apply the data again. I suspected it had something to do with the way Stephen had edited the camera.

Never the less I reapplied the data in After Effects, adjusting the flight path wasn't an issue, however
the layers and angles of the bee were out of synch of the footage and I found it difficult to get the bees in the right place for the sequence. I did have some concerns about the ending but this wouldn't be an issue as it would be removed in the edit.

Later on Stephen and I looked at what I'd done so far on the production bible whilst Kieran was doing his animated football player. As we didn't have an art of book with us to seek inspiration from we looked on the internet and found a page from the Art of Spiderman Into the Spiderverse which was helpful when doing the bee design page.

Inspirational material
What Stephen suggested we do was have the final be design amongst the rough designs and sketches, I agreed this would be a good idea so we applied it to the bible. I was feeling rather at ease having a second pair of eyes on the production bible to see if I could do anything different or add anything else to it. However one area we struggled with was deciding on text as he didn't think we needed the above and below text but I protested and we kept some of them in. Another was deciding on what to add in terms of descriptive text as he found it difficult to think of what to write but with my help we soon had some text down.

We checked on Kierans progress and I did have some concerns about his method of animation. From what I could tell he drew his frames in animate then put them together in Photoshop. This to me seemed very time consuming which was something we couldn't afford at this point in time. I still insisted to Stephen that I should do some of the extra animation but he disagreed as I had too much to do with the team report, the bible and the making of vid.

However I recently learned from Annabeth that the preview we had done before Christmas was the team report. It was a 500 word team evaluation we needed to do as a team so that eliminated one of my concerns.

Myself and Stephen then took a look at the making of video and he suggested we used a similar fade in fade out effect on the logo for our final animation about 5 seconds long. I agreed as our original plan for an animated logo which effective was taking time to do.

Other suggested elements included a bee going across the screen with the pattern like a transition effect. I felt this was a good idea and decided to apply this later on. To help condense it to 10 minutes we made some cuts on some of the clips using the scalpel tool.

By the end of the meeting we had made progress on what to include in the production bible such as marketing, end images and title sequences for the animation and our making of video. The rest of the, week involved final preparations of rendering the last sequences and editing the animation together. However I did still have some concerns regarding Kierans progress in his side of the animation and could only hope that he would get his work finished in time for the submission date. As much like the army we never leave a man behind.

I feel the production bible has made progress now that I've had a second pair of eyes on the making of video and production bible. We'd also devised a way to show the facts as suggested by Munty regarding our facts and we're considering the possibility of a voice over throughout the animation.

In conclusion we had made progress on our work and hoped to get everything submitted for the hand in date this Friday. In future I shall ask further opinions on my work to see what else I could add or what we need to take out to save time and a good quality for hand in.
