Storytelling script to screen: Module evaluation: 15/5/18:

Looking back on the Storytelling script to screen module I feel I have rather enjoyed it and the tasks we did. The module was a good way of putting what we'd learned in Intro to the Making of to good use in terms of concept art and it was a chance to show my skills as a story writer. One element I took away from this module to be the most useful was learning about the story spine of a story. Learning about how to structure the story from beginning, event, middle, climax and end was very helpful and I was able to use it for some of my own story projects and its cut my story writing time in half. I also enjoyed working on my story of the Dancer & The Shoe maker doing the concept art and character designs.

The fact that I decided to work on using Anthropomorphic animals as characters instead of humans and working in the theme of the 19th century, was a big step for me in my character work as it was something I hadn't considered doing in a story. I felt like I was following in the foot steps of Disney as they had some original ideas for the characters such as in Frozen originally Elsa was going to be the villain but after creating the song let it go they changed their minds about the character roles. I feel that was the moment that I had in my work. The element I enjoyed the most was doing the final animatic as it was a chance to do rostrum and 3D multiplane animation, and the success of this has inspired me to play with it more in animations I shall work on over the summer break.

However there were some down sides in the module, one in particular was working in concise times and words. I found this rather hard to do a story in under a minute and felt that it didn't make any sense and working concisely in this or annotations on the blog was one of my biggest weaknesses as I take them and stories to feature length proportions. Thankfully with some help from Annabeth and looking at 1 minute stories on YouTube I was able to cut down my story spine to create a short animatic story.

In conclusion whilst there were some ups, downs, stressful nights and disagreements, through it all I had produced a good 1 minute animatic and hopefully met the criteria of the module for my first year in University. I have very much enjoyed this module and hope we do something similar in the second year of the course to better refine my skills and understanding of stories. This module in essence has helped to broaden my horizons in storytelling and shall use what I've learned to make my own stories and put some long time projects into action.
