Story Telling script to screen: Week 6: 6/3/18: Furry Research boards& Character try outs.

For script to screen this week I decided to pursue another avenue for my story telling project one I discovered two weeks ago, the idea of using Anthropomorphic animals as the characters in my story. For my research I used my Pinterest board to research Anthropomorphic animals, which lead me to a cartoon method called Furry art which looked a lot like what Maddie had done for some of her work. Currious I pursued this further and saved multiple images even a small comic short that I usually see on my Tumblr blog. I had these then turned into research boards in Photoshop selecting the best to study from.

Cats and characters.
The style and artwork was very promising then I had an idea to test out the furry artwork. I decided to look up images of french cats that I looked up when I was considering my options using Google images I looked up images of different cats from france such as Chartreux, Serrade Petit, Birman persian, Bengal, Exotic and the exotic short hair cat. Using these images I did similar cat drawings using some of my character ideas relating to what I thought matched their personalities. Some I instantly knew who to cast as such as the Persian cat is the perfect villain for the story, as was proven, in the film Cats and Dogs even sketching the character made the personality match.

Cats like the Chartreux and Serrade Petit seemed right for Joseph and Elise, even as I sketched their personalities agreed with the cats. I used the Bengal and Exotic short hair as side characters such as a dance teacher and one of the dancers in the short film. Although Annabeth thought the Exotic Short Hair seemed more the villain type whilst true it was a minion in Cats and Dogs I still thought he made a good dance teacher in my view.

I went even further sketching out Joseph (the cat

version) using the elements used from my original human character ideas and it seemed to look good and promising, I went further still sketching the potential meeting scene where Joseph sees Elise dancing on the stage and a loving look from Elise (the cat version) It was clear I made the right decision considering this idea and the possibilities seemed endless. However one thing that had me concerned was the hair, as looking back on my research the male furry characters didn't seem to have much hair whilst the females did. I wasn't sure what to consider as I was still new to furry art, so seeking advice I asked Maddie as she had done this before and she assured me there were no rules to furry art and it could be as we wanted be it near animal or near human which gave me some assurance.

Looking back on what I had accomplished today it was clear I had chosen a very good angle in which to pursue my story idea. I will continue to pursue this further in the hopes of eventually creating a colour ways and digital piece using the characters and begin the production of my digital bible.

Furry character experiments with scene ideas.

In future I shall look deeper into the art of Furry characters to see what I could produce with the style and how I may draw humanoid animals as by practicing I may improve on my first few attempts at the process.
