This week in Intro to the Making of we were being re briefed on this semesters module and concluding our mini briefs in the animatics and storyboarding. We screened our finished animatics from last week, those of us who had finished received feedback whilst some of the class were applying the finishing touches. My animatic did receive some good feedback and some students had seen my work on the Facebook group prior to the lesson as I thought it would be good to hear everyones comments. I looked around the groups work and they all seemed very good approaches to the task and I especially liked the illustrative style of Munty's work.
Upon finishing the screening of our animatics we went onto the main subject of the lesson the module re briefing. For this module we would be focusing on creating a video essay of a subject of our choosing. The idea being we would be using the processes that we'd learned over the course of this year and what could help us in our chosen field of work and set our standards in our job roles. The aims of the module was to introduce us to new methods of documentation and to the matter of budgeting and time management. The next part of the module was evaluation on our learning journey and to help us on the matter of our video essays there were camera based workshops that would help us with film grammar and camera positions. We were told that behind the scenes videos of dvd's and films were equally as fun to watch as an animation to the audience which was something I could agree with as I like seeing how a film is made even the way they present it.
In the briefing one thing needed to remain constant and that was the blog posts, as in the module we needed to document our processes and the workshops/studio work that we did over the course of the module. Our finished outcome would be a video essay about ten minutes long or three if it covers the whole subject. We could look at some of the following subject;

- Sound & Animation
- Animated/optical objects
- Background/set design
- New Technologies
One thing that was a shock to me was a statement of intent was needed, I thought a statement of intent applied to only animation context however I soon realised that this was a requirement of any module at some point. Annabeth showed us some examples of video essays which approached different subjects, one of which was about an AR(augmented reality) video on Youtube. I was very captivated by how animation was being made in a 360 view of this type of animation like the watcher was actually in this world walking around and seeing everything around them much like virtual reality. We were even shown a stopmotion animation that used 3D printing a subject that we would be looking at tomorrow in the maker space with Kevin.
In this work we could apply what we'd learned to live briefs such as the loop de loop, creative conscious awards and the 11 second club or we could even define our own brief as we wanted to work it. We were advised by Annabeth that we could if we wanted to we could work with third year students as they had experience with the matter and could give us advice if we needed it.
Looking on this lesson I was feeling rather worried about this module and I wasn't entirely sure how to approach this at all. I was beginning to have a shudder in my confidence. I talked with Annabeth about this and suggested that I take the time to think about what it was that I wanted to do for my video essay but the module learning journey was to be done in Pecha Kucha styling 20 slides for 20 seconds. Despite the assurance I was still a little concerned, but I decided to take Annabeth's advice and take my subject into consideration before writing my statement of intent and my overall focus.
I did have a general idea of what to do and it was the advancements in technology for animation, I would need to develop this idea before committing to my chosen topic. What I took from this was that we had entered the next stage of the module and it was going to be quite a challenge, all I could do was flow with the module and if anything presents a challenge I would find a way around that obstacle. In future I could possibly look at other subjects outside my comfort zone and not just about concept art, though it is still something that I want to do as a career choice, I need to think outside the box for this essay.
